Hello. I am brand new to this forum and this is my first post.
I am getting ready to start my own jewelry-making business and wonder
if it is cheaper / better to draw my own silver wire or to buy it.
This will be a very small operation at first with one - two employees.
If it makes more sense to buy the wire, then suggestions as to good
suppliers would also be appreciated.
Many thanks and I look forward to learning from you all !
I've been a bench jeweler for 30+ years and have never bought wire.
Well, actually I did buy some 5mm thick (I don't do gauges, sorry)
sterling wire once for some project, but mostly I draw my own.
I wish I had room for a draw table! I do it all by hand.
Now that I'm heavy, I considered placing my drawplate in the steel
rafters of the store I rent and jumping off a step ladder with the
drawtongs in my hands overhead...
Rick.
