Well, it was the end of the month and funs were low but I
wanted to brew something. I found a lot of odds and ends of
fruit and fruit juices, boiled it all with some water and made
a fruity mash. I had no honey, so I added some table sugar.
I ended up with 3 gal, with 2 full cups of sugar added. I
tossed my yeast and some yeast nutrients. This was all
Sunday. I put it in the closet and it has been chugging for a
full two days now. Sort of a "Tell-tale Heart" in my closet.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has made something like
this. If so, what could I expect?

My first shot with fermenting something was a gallon bottle of
welches grape juice with fleischmann's yeast. Put a balloon on
top and everything.

It came out bitter, sweet, and alcoholic. My brother-in-law and
I eventually got it down, half a glass at a time.

Well I cracked open the 3 gal to test and bottle. EW!! It was
like bitter, watery alcohol. I'm too scared to try the smaller
one.

A lot of fruits, when you take away the sugar, end up bitter and
planty. I've heard strawberries are like that. I can only
imagine what would happen to citrus, or some of those tropical
juices. I was working with grape, and the result was
pretty noxious.

Don't be a hero!

Maybe I should have bottled early and tried for a sweeter, carbonated drink. I could just see the little glass grenades showing me how wrong I got it then.
