But this is exactly what "linear error" means. The relationship between the true gravity and the error is linear. If it were off by a constant amount, it would be a constant error.
So when you said "non-linear error" I tried to imagine something more complex than either of those.
That would be why I corrected myself in a subsequent post (as well as the post to which you're replying). Substitute "constant" for "linear".
My post was in response to KGBs assertion that implied that the measurement error would be constant -- it often isn't when the buoyancy has been screwed up by the manufacturer (although, of course, the error in buoyancy IS constant).
