FYI - bag balm and udder cream are good to use pre-baby, but are not safe to be used when you actually start nursing. The only safe thing to use is lanolin (lansinoh brand or Medela makes some, too) once you begin breastfeeding.
And seriously - the last thing you want to do is 'toughen' 'roughen' 'harden' your nipples. I hate to disagree with SJ, but a lot of research has shown that this old-fashioned advice is counterintuitive and does a lot more harm than good.

yep, yep, sleep, a good rough towel, some help from your hubby, and I know.
it sounds odd, but Bag Balm and Udder Cream are both Very Good Investments.
So and go ahead and start prepping ahead of time for use. La Leche is a
wonderful nursing support group if you've not done this before, and its the
best thing in the world for moms and babes both---particularly in multiples
where sometimes one can be a little smaller.
um....two, right? babies, I mean?
