Re: Australia~State stamps.

I read stampboards regularly and have contributed modestly from time
to time. Whatever one thinks of "the man" - and I admit I would not
pick him as a personal friend on the form so far - the board as a
source of information is IMHO unmatched anywhere. His personality-
like it or not has been forceful enough and respected enough to
attract a wide variety of expert contributors, and while he has
obviously upset at least one member here it does not explain why so
many people are still glad to participate. He does use the Board to
promote his business, but in fairness he does not prevent other people
from doing the same, and even supports them from time to time. He has
done the philatelic world a favour by setting up and continuing to
support the board and nothing else could or should be allowed to take
that away from him. At the same time I have respect for Mr. Mcgee in
as much as I can glean from his posts here, and have no reason to
discount his version of events as seen from his perspective.

GS has a short fuse, and a low tolerance level but he is not alone in
that - Sir Richard Branson, Simon Cowell and Sir Alan Sugar among
others have the same trait.

I would not however ever allow myself to get into a contentious
argument with him - I would "put up and shut up" and get on with
extracting what I need from the board.Again in fairness to him I would
say that I have no doubts whatever about his business ethics, in so
far as I can say not having had professional dealings with him.

I think we should now put this matter to bed -after all we all have a
choice as to whether we read the board or not, or participate or not.
If you don't like the man don't read his posts, but don't throw the
information baby out with the GS bathwater !

Yes, an on-line chat / news board.  Easily censored, if it is done as
Joshua states.

I guess my mileage will vary and I should check it out.  MMMV instead
of YMMV.

As I have 666 posts on Stampboards, it might be thought a bit
disingenuous of me not to say something.

I don't wish to make this a "thing" on this newsgroup, but I had hundreds
of posts on Stampboards until I was banned by Glen.

On *this* newsgroup, if there is a conflict between two individuals, one
can examine the permanent, historical record, and make up one's own
mind.  In my conflict with Glen, Glen went through the boards and deleted
certain posts of mine, certain posts of his, certain posts of *third*
*parties* that supported me, and edited still others.  This amounts to
censorship, pure and simple.

I was not trying to mooch information, nor was I foul mouthed, nor was I
selling suspect material: it was a simple conflict in which I and many
others expected Glen to be good to his word, and he simply was not.

Tony writes "anyone who avoids Stampboards out of distaste for the man
does [himself] an unnecessary disservice."  That's great, but I'm still
banned, and I have *no* *doubt* that I would be immediately re-banned,
were I to attempt to rejoin, out of pure spite by Glen.  "Not his
plaything" indeed.

If Glen wants to go on the record, here, and announce that he is
reinstating my user account, my argument would require reevaluation
(dollars to donuts, however, Glen would say he banned me because I was
"behaving like an ungrateful and petulant child" -- he would have nothing
to refer you to, however, because he *deleted* *those* *posts*.)  In the
meantime, I ask anyone "on the fence" regarding the issue to contact me
off-list for details, including details of the flood of support I
received from people all over the world when I discussed this matter on
my personal blog.
