Personally, I'd rather see the year back on the obverse, or reverse, rather than "In God We Trust".
Why can't these religious people leave well enough alone? It was not an "error", as Rep. Wicker says, it was a way to remove the clutter from the design of the coin.
Why has he not complained about "E Pluribus Unum" being on the edge of the coin?
I agree with you. I actually *LIKE* having mottoes like those two on the edges of coins, it makes them look much more 'dignified' and interesting. The dates, OTOH, belong on coin faces and are my normal personal signpost for defining a coin's obverse vs reverse (for my personal purposes, the side with the date is the 'obverse').
