Hi
When mine got over about 3000.00 in value they all went into a Safe
Deposit Box. I know this prevents fondling and showing off your
collection but it does keep it safe. If one is having guests with a
special interest in coins then a quick trip to the bank can retrieve
one or two of interest.
Hi
I forgot to say I only collect cheap coins, foreign circulated for the
most part and US/canadian type sets in the $5/$10 range. No gold,
bullions or alike for me and if I did they would be in a safe like the
rest of you.
Nothing that I would lose sleep over. But I think they would look
great in a nice display case for my own personal enjoyment.
Thanks a lot
Patrick
Hi Patrick,
About 10 or 12 years ago I stumbled onto a seller who was closing up his
business in an Antique Mall stall. He had one of those end-table sized
display cases with the Queen Ann legs that has glass sides and a hinged
glass top. It is about 20" X 26". I got it for a reasonable price to use
as an "I Love Me" display. I put a piece of blue felt in the bottom and use
it to display my medals, wings and badges that I earned during a career in
the Air Force. Get a lot of comments on it. It would also be good, of
course, for displaying coins if you can find something similar.

Well, it's funny you mention this as the best tip so far has come from
my wife, who loves to visit furniture stores and she knows of one
close by where she has seen these type of cases in the past and cheap
too as far as she recalls.
I will go there on Tuesday.
If it all fails I will get an affordable but sturdy wooden cabinet
like the one I have with glass doors. I would just have to install
some lights so my beautiful and affordable Canadian specimen sets can
shine to my enjoyment ;-)
Some good suggestions there. I have some predecimal British coins and
notes -- run of the mill stuff, really -- that I keep in a predecimal
British cash till. National, about mid 1920s or so. Nice wood drawer
and buttons from 1/2d. on up to 9/-, though some of the numbers are
missing. I can't figure out how to reset to total amount recorded back
to zero, though.
Padraic
Thanks Ed
Patrick
