I need to make a custom 2 sided coin with a 3d emboss. The material is
unimportant it can be hard plastic for all I care. All that really
matters is the quality of the emboss. I've been looking through the
custom vendors but they all seem to have sky high prices and minimum
orders in the 100s when I only really need two. Do you guys know of
anyone who will do the work for as low a price as possible? Very low
hundreds....
You've GOT to be kidding!
Engravers working for private mints are paid well, a sthey should be,
and it could take several days or even weeks to produce
a plaster casting of your design, then produce a master die and the
profits only come when the private mint recovers the setup costs as
well as a price per piece of probably a couple of hundred medals if
not a larger quanity.
This all would like exceed $1000 and maybe a lot more. Think about it!
Furthermore, this assumes you are okay with one single design and do
not require several drawings to choose from. That won't be cheap or
free.

You will have a better chance if you make a plea in rec.crafts.metalworking
for someone with a CNC mill to produce your one-offs. Do you have a digital
copy of the artwork you require? Someone might do it as a hobby/favour, but
no commercial outfit will look at it for a sub-thousands fee. (Nor should
they.)

(not fair is it - since a penny is only worth a penny!)
I have a embossed seal which is pretty much exactly like I want the
embossed coin except for the fact that its not made of a hard material
and the emboss level needs to be a little deeper. As far as 3D I guess
it is although only insofar as having three levels of depth is 3D. I
didn't think it would be that expensive since I see two level custom
coins going for 50 bucks. But I guess rcm is a good choice, anybody
actually ask them for something like this before?
thanks
