Everyone who thinks the sky will fall if we get rid of the penny should
read this article. It's a real-life demonstration that rounding has no
effect on anything, save the time and effort wasted in dealing with
pennies.
IMHO the loss of the cent coin would be a burden on the poor and
inflationary.
I've already written to my Congressman to voice my concern over the
proposed elimination of the cent.
