I never realized how addicted I was to RCC until I suddenly lost the
ability to send or reply to emails and/or newsgroup messages. Address Book
malfunction of some sort. I could receive and read all the new stuff but
couldn't comment on any of it -- exasperating!!
After a several days of experts pouring over my computer, ready to perform
major surgery on my WindowsXP, Internet Explorer, and Outlook Express, I
stumbled upon the solution to my problem all by my little self. Thanks
again for Newsgroups. I went on a newsgroup search for threads discussing
similar problems. Seems my problem involved a faulty group of four recent
MS updates (I have my system set to accept automatic updates). A trip
to Add/Remove Programs revealed that I did indeed receive these four
updates. Per instructions, I removed each of them, rebooted, and here I
am again. A child shall lead them, sort of! If anyone else running
WindowsXP/SP2 and using MS IE and Outlook Express has encountered a
similar problem, I can list the specific update patches to remove. No
charge.
Now I forgot which RCC posts I had wanted to respond to.

I'd like to know. I've been meaning to run the updates and don't want to get
messed up.
