I'm glad that I asked. I just got an email from a friend who said that she
had a rash of recreational bidders for her glass auctions. She was
considering PayPal only so she would know faster who was going to pay. I had
never heard the term "recreational bidder." If there are no repercussions
other than having an email addy bounced off eBay, there's no real impetus to
honor bids. I guess we should be glad for the ones who pay.

I ran into a potential insurance scammer the other day on one of my vintage
glass auctions. He said his package had not been delivered. The confirmation
showed it had. When I wrote the winner, he found the piece fairly quickly,
but wanted to return it with me paying postage both ways because it had a
couple of minor scratches. Of course had scratches -- it was vintage. I
don't know if he was just dumb about authenticating vintage glassware or if
he was trying an insurance scam. I'll bet I've heard the last from him. I
hate that he has a wonderful piece of glass. It is like selling a 1893-S
Morgan to someone who is going to lag for change.

Anyway... I think that we are not alone. It makes the good buyers even
better. I particularly like getting a friendly note here and there. Luckily,
I get more of these than bad things happening.
