This is in reference to my gauge monitor that I am currently testing.
So far it does seem to be a handy addition to the dash but I am not
sure if I am just inventing a better handle for a buggy whip ... if
you get my drift.
My boat is 18 years old. And I like analog displays. Still have analog
watches. Digital gives a value you have to extrapolate, I want an easy for
the brain to decipher display. AS SW says on his radios. How hard would it
be to peak a section with a digital voltmeter?
Actually, digital meters can be equipped with a fast-acting, analog
slider that allows you to peak a circuit just like an "real" analog
meter can. Few have them, however.
Pretty much all modern o'scopes are digital. The display may look
familiar, but under the hood it's all digital.
Well, when trying to watch a variable voltage, such as comes off an 02
sensor, you really need the analog meter or O'scope display, digital as
it is. It's the display I am talking about, guess I should have been a
bit more careful;)

Understood, and agreed. I'm talking about digital displays (not
digits, but bar graphs) that react just as quickly as analog ones, and
allow you to tweak the circuit in the same manner. They aren't on all
digital meters, but they do exist.
My 12 yr old daughter just could not understand how to use my parents
rotary dial phone.
