Don, has your son recovered from getting his head almost kicked in?

Well, look who's here.
You know Johnny, I've never said one thing about your grown kids or their
children.... even when you were panhandling here for one of them.
Why do you feel it necessary to comment on other posters' families?
The cause he was "panhandling" for might save your wife or any other women
you know. Hell, even men get breast cancer, dip***. I donated
generously. I'll match you dollar for loonie this year. Can you play
with the big boys?

Match this, LoonieBoy!
Don,

The charity that JohnH was willing to match dollar for dollar for any
rec.boats contributions is an EXCELLENT charity. It is successful on so
many levels, it should be used as a prototype for other charities. They
create awareness for woman to do monthly breast exams so the cancer can
be caught and treated early. They currently have grants to over 20
universities studying breast cancer. From their web site "Since its
inception in 1982, we have awarded more than 1,100 breast cancer
research grants totaling more than $400 million. With $1billion invested
to date, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the world's largest source of
nonprofit funds dedicated to curing breast cancer at every stage - from
the causes, to the cures, to the pain and anxiety of every moment in
between."

While all this is excellent work, in my mind, where Susan G. Komen has
excelled is providing woman and their loved ones, with a concrete ways
to become actively involved in their fight against this disease.
Scientist have shown that someone with a positive attitude has a
substantially better chance of healing. The bonding between cancer
patients and family members, the charity events etc, all contribute to
the positive attitude that will help people win the battle against
breast cancer. Wither you donate money to this group, I think everyone
has to agree, it is a great organization.

JohnH took an active role in helping his daughter raise money for a very
worthwhile charity. He matched everyone contributions dollar for
dollar. This had a positive effect on his daughter, his family and
himself, but most importantly for millions of others, including our own
family and friends.

JohnH was not panhandling, he was doing what all of us should do in our
lives. He became actively involved in a very worthy cause, a cause he
believed in. Even if someone didn't contribute, his posts highlighted
this charity to those who read rec.boats. I would guess quite a few
people made donations and will continue to donate to this charity, just
because of those post. It was a win win situation, with no losers.

Considering what normally passes for discourse in rec.boats, his
"panhandling" was head and shoulders over the most of our posts.

I hope he continues to help to raise funds for this charity, including
chiding us to contribute.

Very nice words, Reggie.

This years run is still a few months away. Last year's cost me a small
fortune. I hope this year's costs even more!

Don't worry it will. I am going to put a large dent in your golf budget.

Damn, I was kinda hoping the recession would save me some money.
