alternative would have been Kerry or Gore!
Believe it or not, I don't think badly of GWB. I don't think he's the
sharpest tack in the drawer, but I still believe he did what he thought was
best with the information that he had. I think history will be kinder to
him.
I don't buy into the theories that we went into Iraq to line his and
Cheney's pockets. I also don't buy into the BS about how he "lied" us into
the Iraq war. If he lied about WMD's, then so did the bulk of the rest of
the world's governments and intel agencies and so did the UN security
counsel. Some people like to forget all that, and the UN votes on the
resolutions to demand Iraq's compliance with the first Gulf War agreements.
As to the tanking economy, it's not Bush that caused it, started it, or even
ignored it, although you sure would think he was on vacation for the past 8
years if you listen to the liberal left. Warnings were made by his
administration back in 2003 and 2005 but fell on deaf ears in Congress.
When things go bad, people by nature look for someone to "blame", as if it
simplifies the problem and gets the fingers pointing away from them. Wall
Street execs screwed the economy, along with big Banks and indeed, the
consumer who accepted charge cards and ran them up beyond their means to
pay.
Same with the housing. It's the sum of a bunch of "blames". Bush just
happens to be an easy target.
Let's see how the new administration does ..... except it really doesn't
look that "new" does it?
From a national defense point of view, Obama is keeping Bush's team in
place.
The rest of the group, although well qualified, are Clinton era re-runs.
I sincerely hope they can get their collective arms around a frenzied bee
hive of problems.

While I don't believe that the economy in the whole is Bush's fault,
he could have acted sooner. The fact is that some of the regulators,
etc. came to him and begged him for legislation to stop the mortgage
mess. He chose not to. Hindsight to be sure, but it happened.
McCain tried to get the Senate to do something several times and he was
pushed aside. The Senate had legislation and refused to do anything with it.
What I DO find amazing though, is that right wing pundits have also
said over and over again that it's not Bush's fault, and couldn't ever
be the president's fault. In the same breath, some of them are blaming
Obama every day that the stocks fall!!!
As soon as Obama is sworn in on Jan. 20th it will all be his fault. It
isn't fair but it will all be his fault.
It's his fault now. He was in the Senate and could have done something.

Really? Any one person in the senate could have "done something". Or
do you mean just because he's not a republican?
Yes. Any one person in the Senate could have done 'something'.
