Well done digital is great.

Ain't no such thing.

Perusing through a large thrift shop one day, in the "record section", I
came upon a box. Someone had opened it and slid it aside as I suppose
they didn't have a proper reel-to-reel tape deck, like my Pioneer RT-707:

I'd love to have those OTHER units, even the cassette deck, to go with it
in its rack, which I never got for the $25 "untested" in another thrift
shop, unscratched, looking unused IN ITS ORIGINAL BOX with manuals and
that nice aluminum takeup reel! What a find.

The box was full of easy listening and classical RED LABEL RCA reel-to-
reel tapes in their original boxes, too. There were about 80 of them and
only one of them was unusable as it had been crushed, the tape folded
hard, which is never good.

You are correct about "digital". CDs cannot compare to what comes out of
that Pioneer from the manufacturer's analog tapes at 7 1/2 ips with NO
SAMPLING at all.

Too bad the greedy bastards put so little music on pre-recorded reel-to-
reel tapes trying to squeeze every sheckel out of every song. Some tapes
only have 1/2" thickness of tape on a 7" reel with a HUGE central hub to
fill up some of the space and make it look like more. Damned music this
way WAS EXPENSIVE! Even the autoreverse signals work on the Pioneer.

Music for it is really cheap, now. EVERYONE who has reel-to-reel tapes
wants to give them to me...(c; How can I turn them down??

Mantovani, Vaughn Monroe, Boston Pops....oh, the POPS sound fantastic!
There's little booklets in most of them telling you all about the artist,
songwriters, technical information about how your tape was created....as
if they made them one-at-a-time, instead of 3000 an hour at 5000 ips...
