The formal report required to be submitted by the POTUS later this month will include data submitted by Petraeus.
For anyone to claim otherwise would therefore imply that the General outright lied today to Congress. Doubtful.

Yeah, that's what he said, and, of course, you believe him. The president's boy, Ed Gillespie, spent some hours with the general the last few days. So, Harry, you are saying that Petraeus, in his opening statement and not in response to a specific question, purposely went out of his way to lie in a Congressional testimony?
Do *you* really believe that?

I don't believe the "top general" in Iraq is going to say much of anything in front of Congress without having met with the White House first and without having its input. The general met with Gillespie for many hours before he testified. I'm not saying the general is a liar; I'm saying he's part of the spin machine.
It was interesting what he didn't say, and, of course, his sort of non-committal commitment to draw down 30,000 troops by next Spring "maybe" was fascinating.
It also was interesting that there was hardly any mention of the nearly 2 million Iraqi refugees who have left the country, thus lowering the number of targets for violence in those couple of areas where it is down temporarily. Ethnic cleansing at its best. And I love the way we're now keeping track of such stuff...if you're shot in one part of the head, you're counted, but in another part of the head, you're not a victim of terrorism. And of course, the dancing around the head of a pin on whether our actions brought al Qaeda into Iraq.
The GAO dealt out reality last week in its report. The general was serving his master, President Idiot.
Channeling MoveOn again. :>)
You love to talk about goose stepping neocons, but you don't realise
how ridiculous you sound when you goose step along with your MoveOn
talking points.
In fact, you might say you mirror your own "enemy".
Highly amusing.
The Bush Administration has NO credibility on Iraq (or much of anything else). The general for all practical purposes is part of the administration, since he serves at the pleasure of the president. The Bush administration has turned Iraq into a complete, total disaster, a killing field for our troops, and a magnet for al Qaeda wannabes.
Most Americans share my views on this subject. Yours are the minority view, and becoming more of a minority view as time marches on.
