Anyone here that doubts artificial intelligence exists, really should get out more! :^)

Over the years, several SciFi authors have taken that comment and
turned that theory into stories, probably the most famous being D.F.
Jones's "Colossus" which was made into a TV movie "Colossus - The
Forbin Project". For those who never read it, the basic plot was two
super computers, one American, the other Russian, were allowed to talk
to each other to prevent nuclear war and through all the improved
communications became self aware. The computers took over the world,
etc. R.A. Heinlien also wrote about the self aware computer that
"woke up" in "The Mood is A Harsh Mistress" in much the same manner.
