Around here, you either have dial-up, cable, or DSL. Dial-up is slow,
the cable company has no competition, and when I last had DSL, it had
downtown everytime the provider went out of business. My landline
Verizon phone works 99.9999999999999% of the time.
Then VoIP is not for you. No big deal.

But I do have a question, what does the statement that the cable
company has no competition have to do with anything? From a broadband
standpoint, if DSL is available in your area, then the cable company
does have competition.

I too had DSL and it sucked. Guess who the provider was..... Verizon...
switched to cable broadband and have only had 1 outage in 2 years,
better speed, better service and my VoIP works great!

If you truely can't get good broadband in your area, then you are
right, VoIP won't work for you. If the only thing you can get is DSL,
then it would be stupid to get VoIP unless you do a boatload (notice
how I slipped that word in there to keep things on topic) of long
distance.

But dogging on Vonage because you ISP sucks is like saying Ford sucks
because you don't have good roads in your area.

DSL and Cable are not the same thing, even though they provide a similar
service. There are significant technological differences that impact
speed and service.

VOIP is not as reliable as wired telco lines. Period. Maybe someday it
will be. I perceive a difference in voice quality, too, especially for
overseas calls. I have a lot of contact with Microsoft Tech Support, and
MS uses VOIP almost exclusively. At least half the time the voice
quality coming in from VOIP does not sound as good as satellite and
telco lines.

And the D200 wasn't a much better camera than the D70.

At times Harry does take very strong stands on issues just because he
enjoys a good debate. He even takes a strong stand on issues he may not
agree with if he thinks it will provide a interesting exchange.

The D200 is one of them.

Yup.
