(Chevy 5.7L 350). It has a cracked block.
Anyonw know what to expect to pay to have someone pull the motor out
and reinstall. I would like to buy a new short block and do the
component swap myself.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Call a major engine rebuilder to come and get it, rebuild it (specify marine rebuild), deliver to yard. Another $2-3000.
I did this once. Turned out very well. Chevy 350.
Mechanics charge a lot. Figuring out the good from the bad mechanics is half the battle.
If a good mechanic does the work, $10,000 - $14,000 ought to cover it. A bad mechanic, about twice that.
Does this help?
