bad place to park a boat

While Wilma was passing us here in Satellite Beach yesterday, the water in
our canal rose about 4 ft above normal.
A neighbor had his jet boat (oversized jet ski) on the lift but not tied to
the dock. After the boat traveled around that side of the canal a bit, he
got it back to his yard and pulled it into the yard and tied it to a tree.
Water at all time time high.
The water dropped rapidly after the storm went by and now this 1,500 lb
oversized jet ski is about 3 feet above the water with a concrete sea wall
in the way.
How do you explain to the insurance company that you need a crane to launch
the boat you put in the yard?
This is my second favorite jet ski experience. My favorite was watching a
guy launch his jet ski next to "Cocoanuts", a popular bar/restaurant on
Cocoa Beach. He backed his trailer out near the water, off loaded the jet
ski, and went off to find a place to park his truck and trailer.
By the time he got back the tide had receeded and there was about 25 ft of
sand between the jet ski and the water.
Apparently those things are heavy, as for the next 45 minutes he entertained
the people sitting on the deck enjoying the afternoon, eating, drinking and
listening to music by trying to close the gap with the outgoing tide.
He was applauded when he finally gave up and came to the deck for a cold
beer!
Although no one offered to help him launch his noise maker, there were
plenty of offers to help him get it back on the trailer so that he could
take someplace else!
