Mandarin Duck

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah.
A couple of days ago I spotted a male and female Mallard in the pond
near where I live. I was happy that the ducks were back as they have
summered at this pond for 5 years now. I went over to have a closer
look and with the Mallards was a duck of such beauty it was
breathtaking. Had no Idea what it was. I thought maybe it was some
sort of wood duck, but knew that couldn't be true. The Mandarin had
no leg collar and was gone the next day.
What a bird. WOW.
