I guess I am computer illiterate. I have Comcast and when they stopped
feeding the newsgroups in October I simply subscribed to the RSS
feeds, which come onto My.Yahoo for free. Am I missing something?

Say no more, Ken.  I tracked down the RSS feeds and am messaging you
after doing so.

The presentation is not quite Outlook Express, but I'm satisfied.

The "arrow" link in the RSS to connect to rec.birds is just right.

Martin, the neat thing about the "My.Yahoo" RSS reader is that you can
display as many messages as you want, and can hover over the tiles to
read the first few lines without bothering to open the message.

My main "My.Yahoo" page has all the national, local and sports (etc)
RSS news feeds. In addition, I dedicate a whole new page of My.Yahoo
to the 20 or so birding blogs that I subscribe to. At a glance, I can
see what the new headlines are, withou the bother of looking up each
URL in turn.

Also, for my own Blog, by clicking on the title of a given post I get
a summary of the contents. I can copy (with only two clicks) this
summary directly unto my "Blog Index" Web page. This permits me to
link each post to the index for my the Blog. Each summary already
contains a hot link to the Blog entry, of which I now have 199.You may
have to see what I mean by going to my Blog, which is
<http://blog.rosyfinch.com>
and then clicking on the graphic button for the "Index to Blog" in the
left column.
