Migration

Last evening, between storms, I was in the backyard checking the sky
to see if the Chimney swifts were here yet. I saw in the distance,
very high up and very far away, a black smudge. It was clear that it
was not smoke but a large flock of birds. It was way too far away to
get any kind of focus with my binoculars or to be able to hear any
calls as it moved across the sky and changed shape as it went. I
watched it until it disappeared.
