The Brown-headed Cowbird has a metallic sound. Go to

and see if it matches.

I live in southeastern Pennsylvania near the town of West Chester (a
western suburb of Philadelphia). I am not a hard-core birdwatcher, but I
enjoy watching the birds in my neighborhood.
There is one particular bird with a very interesting song that I would
like to identify. I have not been able to spot the bird. I generally
hear it in the morning. Its song sounds similar to the sound you get if
you strike an old swingset of the type made of hollow metal pipes about
three inches in diameter with a piece of metal--it's kind of a ringing
noise.
I have been poking around some of the numerous Websites which feature
recordings of bird songs and calls, but the trouble is, you have to know
the bird to select the sound file to play! I'm sure I could eventually
stumble upon it by playing all the sound samples, but on some of these
sites that could take awhile. I just wondered if a veteran birder from
this area might recognize the bird I am talking about. Thanks.
