It's raining. We have had 15 days of over 100 degree heat and no rain
in weeks. My lawn is covered with birds enjoying the rain and
whatever it is bringing up out of the ground.
Too much rain in vast parts of this country--I hope none of you are
affected by that.

I understand you also might have some problems with radioactive waste?
Which is worse? No rain here on the coast. Just the threatening thunder
and lightning. By the by: I use to live 15 mile from Findlay, Ohio which
is now almost totally under water. My former home town was spared with just
water in some basements.
As far as I know all such rumors are false. Local paper this week
says there is no ground water contanination as the current rumor says.
These rumors pop up from time to time here.
For those of you who do not know what we are talking about,Barnwell is
the home of Chem-Nuclear which is a low level nuclear waste disposal
site. We also had for awhile Allied General Nuclear Services which
had the goal of reprocessing nuclear waste but which never became
opperational. We are also are slap up against the Savannah River Site
which is the nation's center for the processing and storage of weapons
grade plutoniaum. We do not glow in the dark! The two opperational
sites--Chem-Nuclear and the SRS employ a great many people in the
surrounding area and as far as I can find out we do not have a higher
number of cancers etc than other SC areas. I myself suffer from a
very rare form of Lymphoma and i do know one other person in Barnwell
who does also. For those of us who have lost faith in the
truthfulness of our government it can be a littel unsettleing.
However, birds are one of the first to react to environmental problems
and our birds are fine!!
