Swallow-tailed Kites

I had been reading on the Carolina Bird list about lots of
Swallow-tailed Kites being seen in Allendale county which is close to
Barnwell so yesterday morning I drove down there. When I got to the
spot there were already several birders all ready set up there. I sat
for about an hour on the hood of my car and watched between 20 and 30
Kites havesting june bugs and grasshoppers over a beautiful green hay
field. They put on quite a show. Better than the blue Angels much
gliding and swooping and twisting in the air. Wonderful.
