Blue Heron Behavoir

Got back from a trip to Galveston Island, where I got to see a number
of birds. Driving up, I spotted the Wood Ducks on the pond next to
the house. I hope they stay this year -- they don't seem to like my
box or its placement.
Anyway............to the topic:
Often, in the pond, crows show up for a bath. One will take the high
post while the others bathe. Then the sentry will be replaced, and he
comes down to splash about. In recent years, Turkey Vultures are
doing the same thing.
But, today I saw a pair of GBH's float to the pond, one hitting the
shallows while the other took a high sentry post. The wader spent
about 20 minutes grabbing and eating fish while the other kept a
lookout and then both left. The sentry never took a turn.
Q: Has anyone else ever seen a sentry for a wading GBH?
cheers
oz, lamenting that it was too cold for thong bikinis to parade and be
ogled in Galveston.
