Honey is being spunky today (her nickname has been Spunky Brewster, and
she's been living up to that, at least a LITTLE today, and I'll take
whatever I can get, at this point in her life), and she has wanted to
go
outside FOUR times today (and at this point in her life, I NEVER turn
down one of her requests, if I can HELP it)... Our back yard is
walled,
and I'm always there to ensure she isn't eaten by the local coyote
population, AND to be sure she doesn't decide to eat any of the local
bird population, either...

Jan, words just cannot express my feelings about Honey and the care you
and Deb are providing. I have so much respect for you with the love and
care you are providing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Honey
as
you make this transition.

Thanks, Pat!!!

There's no doubt where this will end, of course. But while Honey's still
enjoying herself, at least part of the day, and not in pain or significant
discomfort, we're going to try to do everything possible that we CAN for
her.

When she's clearly NOT doing well, or IS in pain or ongoing discomfort, it
will be time to end it...

But she's always been a fighter, and has ASTOUNDED her veterinarian (not
to
mention Deb and me) several times with her ability to take devastating
problems and get past them...

So, we'll try to let her to CONTINUE to astound the veterinary troops, as
long as it isn't causing HER a lot more trouble than she's already seen...

I've lost two cats in the past few years and I know how hard it is
when one of them dies. I have a good vet who was very up front with
me when the time came. It was so tempting to try and keep them just
one more day but you have to steel yourself to do what is the best for
them.

Mary Ann

Thanks, Mary Ann!!!

We've discussed, and we've discussed it with our vet. He's very direct, and
yet very compassionate, and very GOOD, too... We actually have two vets.
This guy is about 25 miles away. We have another one two miles away... But
this one has been SO good, and has done so much for Honey, that I continue
to take her there...

We won't let her suffer... Research says that she's not suffering
meaningfully now, but as these problems progress, she will be, and that will
be the time...

Yes. It's tough, all right... They ARE our children, as we have none of
our own... And what's making it even tougher is that she'll be the third
one we've lost in the past six months!!! The other two were MUCH older, and
went downhill much faster... But Honey's always been a fighter and has
defied the odds all her life, so she'll be REALLY tough to lose... We know
we can't stop it. But we're going to do everything we can to make her last
days or weeks as pleasant for her as we can...

Thanks again!!!
