Bird Next in my Garage - Need Advice

Hello.

A pair of Wrens have decided to build a next in our garage. They built it
in a small basket that was on top of a storage unit in the garage.
We keep our garage door open most of the afternoon, and were noticing that
bird flying out of it when we opened the door to the garage.
Today, I spotted a small egg in the nest. I don't want to disturb it, but I
can't keep my garage door open all day! I've been
keeping the garage door open with about a 12" gap at the bottom, hoping that
the birds will be smart enough to
get through. Any bird experts here? Is this viable, or is the nest doomed?
Plus, the birds are disturbed quite a bit, as we go in/out of
our garage a lot.
