A friend once had a Mollucan as a pet, and he had the fly of the house also. He was also housebroken ... sort of. They'd say "Go poop" and he would instantly fly back to his cage, do his thing, then return.

My Umbrella is semi toilet trained, he also has the run of the house unless im out (and we all know what happened a few weeks ago when he escaped when I was out).
Anyway when hes about to poo I say No, and he stops, hops onto my shoulder and back to his cage, does his stuff, and comes straight back out.
Badass.
I don't know if this would be exactly a pet but I would love to have
peacocks on the lawn (and the big Lawn to have them on!). And maybe a
Guinea hen or two--now that's a funny bird.
Been there, done that. I have peafowl, guineas, turkeys, ducks, geese, and chickens of all kinds (bantam, normal, giant Cochin). They're all wonderful to have around.
The peafowl are gorgeous, of course, especially the males. And yes, they do go around with their tails spread. Constantly! The peafowl seem to be +VERY+ smart (whereas the turkeys are dumb as posts). But as I found to my sorrow, the peafowl are predators. They love to eat eggs -- the closer to hatching the better -- and if it's after hatching well, that's even better yet. I have to really guard my ducks and chickens in the spring, like now.
The guineas are a riot. They never seem to walk anywhere, they run. And their little legs move so fast, they almost look like one of those wheeled kiddy toys.
The guineas are the peacekeepers in my yard, at least as far as the chickens are concerned. If two roosters square off for a fight, one of the guinea males will just come running full tilt, crashing into both of them. That usually quiets them down again.
My personal favorites are the ducks, but the chickens can also be extremely sweet, and love to be petted.
