I was looking for a sound file of them drumming to show my wife and
found these 2 [to me] different representations of how they sound.
The Cornell link has a drumming sound at the end-- and is also the
sound I associate with the Pileated

This sound is familiar, but I haven't associated it with the Pileated-

Is this another bird-- or am I just hearing it differently?
As I said in my other post-- 'I'm not really a birder'.
Thanks,
Jim
