I know this question has probably been asked a lot. I'm a rather new at
hummingbirds and not sure when to put out my hummingbird feeder for the
season. I live near Charlotte, North Carolina.
Thank you!
You can put out a feeder or two half filled
and watch to see if any hummers are
attracted. Be sure to clean the feeders
thoroughly (hot water, no soap) every 3-4
days to make sure mold doesn't form.
I like to put out 2 feeders early even if it
means wasting sugar water. I usually get
one or two early birds before the rest
show up. I don't have plants that bloom
early (other than some of the roses) so
right now there's not a lot in the yard to
attract hummers, other than memory of
good times past in my yard. :)
Later, as things get more active, I'll add
more feeders.
