Sure am learning alot about optics just reading here. If you all keep the
conversation on optics going at a level that does not require one to be a
physicist to follow. I will surely keep reading and exploring.
It would be great to get an 80mm scope and am looking into older models
as the prices for the current generations of the big names is just more than I
can spare.
I am considering models like the at80 swarovski, and similar models from leica,
zeiss, nikon. I am not sure if kowa made an 80 that would now be an older model.
I don't know what a scope and matching manufacturers eyepiece will cost in nice
condition. Comments would be helpful on this. Finding info on old models is a
bit harder than the current models.
I would like to hear from owners of scopes of this type with comments and
experiences.
I am leaning towards the straight vs angled. it just seems like it has to be
more
intuitive to find what you want to find, I am using an old photo lens now with a
lens scope converter(this is a straight configuration). It does not sound like
much, the lens is the weakest link in this system (the converter is quite nice).
I am getting 45x. Color is somewhat flat, and it is not as bright as I would
like. Time to move on if I can find something I like better.
