To dismiss the possible ID of a bird merely because it is outside of
its known range would be unfortunate. I know of many cases where birds
have been positively identified outside of their known range. This
suggests that there could be many more. Case in point. Many bird
books shows Anna's Hummingbirds as a California bird. Anna's are now
frequently seen in Western Washington. Also, more recent sightings
have them in Eastern Washington and even Idaho. Birds don't read bird
books, so they don't know where they should or should not be. This
year we have had a huge influx of Snowy Owls in the entire State of
Washington and in British COlumbia.....
