Christmas Day Hawk

While having breakfast Christmas AM, (with my 99 yr. old Mom who was
visiting), a very large hawk flew to the fence in my back yard. It was
HUGE, at least 20 - 25 inches from head to tail tip!! There were 3 young
squirrels in my yard, one in the dogwood tree, 2 on the ground when the
bird flew over. The squirrels froze, not moving anything. It sat on the
fence for a few mins. then flew away. Later, my son came and said there
was a squirrel nest lying on the ground. So, maybe the hawk has his
breakfast just before flying to the fence. It was brown and white
speckled on it's back, never saw it from the front. It was BIG what ever
it was!!! It was exciting just to see it so close.
