As a practical matter it will likely only be actually
snowing during your commute less that two dozen days. Within
a scant 4 to 36 hours[1], that snow will be mostly either
plowed or compacted. During actual snowfall, it would
behoove you to get the hell out of the street. Use sidewalks
or alternate non-street routes because any well meaning bus
driver can slide his 5 tons of steel right over you without
pausing.

Don't fear winter. With daily riding, one acclimates as the
seasons change.
