Re: What's the best patch?

I've tried that technique. It's especially useful when a small
amount of the talc on the inside of the tube blows out and spots the
hole with a white dot. However, about 25% of the time that spot
disappeared when it came time to apply the patch.

That's why I decided to line the tube up on a set of "cross hairs"
and lock it in place.

As I said, this only requires stretching the tube manually to get that
"white" spot, it being the sheen on the membrane that the partially
dried glue makes over the hole. The sheen goes away by itself after
the stretched tube (by inflation or manually) is relaxed because the
"white" spot is not talcum. besides, pumping is a clumsy act for
finding the spot on a fresh glue application. Just stretch the tube
bu hand slightly.
