Given that the OPs brakes will work with a 700c wheel, what is the
advantage of building/buying a *new* 27" wheel? I surely can not think
of even one.
Keeps the bike stock. Cheap and decent enough tires widely available,
really good ones via the net. Oh, and matches the front wheel. ;-)
Plus, I like big wheels. It's the anti 650B B-) I built some 27's a
while back--they looked huuge and magnificent. Ultimately, it's not
that important...as long as it's not some hobbitty size.
IOW, there are no advantages.....
One of my personal bikes originally came with 27". When I built it up
for it's new life, I used some extant 700c wheels from my stable. Now,
I have some near NOS high flange hubs I want to use on that bike to
restore the 'original look'. I briefly thought about using 27"
rims......but I quickly got over it. Why shoot yourself in the foot?
I thought about a joke post recommending an upgrade to 635mm
Dunlops...
Take it to the RBW group.....;-)
