yep, got rid of that legal virus, AOL...but how do I import all my
address from AOL to comcast??

Thanks.

Dear Peter,

In your comcast mailcenter, click on "address book" on the left.

In the address book, click on "import contacts" on the top right.

There are four kinds of data files that it can import:

Palm Pilot ABA
MS Outlook CSV
MS Outlook Express CSV
Netscape Communicator LDIF

Click on the kind that you have--er, we'll get to that later--and then
use the browse function below the kind-of-file box to find it on your
computer.

Then click import.

Saw that, tried that but the thing said it needed to be in 'aba', csv'
or ldif format(???)

Now about that nagging little detail of creating the data file . . .

You can kinda-sorta do a bare-bones version if you fiddle around and
are happy importing and exporting files from spreadsheets, but I
wouldn't recommend it. Here's one example:

And another:

Many people find it easier to re-enter only the addresses that they
actually use.

Another method is to email people with a mass cc emailing, asking them
to send a hi-mom email to your new account. You just click on
add-to-address-book on each email and treat anyone who wouldn't reply
with the disdain that they deserve.

Dear Peter,

Yes, Comcast imports only those 4 formats, so it's up to you to create
a file on your computer in one of those formats.

To create such a file on your computer from your AOL account . . .

Another option is to get a friend or customer with a hand-held (such
as a palm pilot) and use this free AOL program:

http://aolsync.aol.com/

You synch or copy your AOL address book to the handheld.

Then you export the handheld data to a program like outlook.

Then you export the data from outlook in the csv format.

Then you import the csv file to comcast from your computer.

Cheers,

Carl Fogel
