Convenient packaging is worth something - just throw a tube on each bench and
you're done.
Bearings here are $1.95/set-25. My standard pack (one
inspection unit) is 4,000 pieces for 1/4-inch. They cost
much less in a 4,000 pack. Does that make me "greedy" for
selling single-serves at two bucks?
Hey, that's way better than the LBS I avoid now, they pack them in bags of _20_
and sell 'em for $3.95.
My S.O. runs a _convenience_ store where a single serving
pint of milk is much more expensive per ounce than a
5-gallon boxes (fits those stainless milk dispensers) So?
Convenience is an actual valuable commodity. Buy it or
don't buy it - it's still reasonable for some.
If cyclists perceive value in Phil's brand (Phil selects for
bearing quality & fills them with grease -which most vendors
skip) they will pay more. If the value isn't there, riders
will stop buying them.
But if you figure out why a Colnago sells for 4x any
equivalent bike I'll listen. That one stumps me.
It says Colnago, so everybody knows you paid 4x as much.
Sheesh, don't you know anything.
