If you go with Mirage then you will need a Campag rear der.
A shy person asked:
Won't the Campag shifters work with Shimano 8-speed cassettes if I use some sort of spacer?
Campag shifters generally require a Campag rear _derailer_.
In 9- and 10-speeds, the wheels/cassettes are pretty well interchangeable between the systems, but the difference betweeh Campagnolo/Shimano _8-speed_ cassettes is greater. There are spacer kits that are supposed to work.
Another way to go is with a Jtek ShiftMate:

Also, my current handlebars have only one groove in them -- will I need to buy a new 2-groove handlebar?
Nobody needs any grooves in their handlebars, this is a silly marketing gimmick.
