Here's the situation: I broke my clavicula 4 months ago. The pieces
aren't really positioned towards each other.
Yet, the docs said natural healing should be given a chance. A huge
scar from earlier shoulder surgery is a factor in that non-
interventionism.
In the months after the photos don't show progress. However there's
the fact that my arm mobility is extraordinary, and that makes those
orthopedists believe there must be some healing going on.
Last time, I got the message that chances of healing are getting
really slim now, and that I probably wil have to make a choice end
november: am I OK living with this shoulder, or is surgery necessary.
On a standard day, the shoulder doesn't bother me. I don't do physical
work. I do ride on the Tacx without feeling any impairment. That's
more comfortable than when I go somewhere: a hanging arm tires more.
The only problem is power or lifting smething at a certain height. I
can't really lift a weight >15kg in the air and I can't swim.
SO
If the bone doesn't get fixed, can I expect my body to adapt some more
and to regain that kind of strength then?
Surely I will consult some medical folks, but maybe someone here has
experience on this himself? Or knows another dumbass like me?
If it were I, and having read the experiences related
in this thread, then I would start interviewing
orthopedic surgeons until I found one that that I
consider competent and would undertake the reconstruction
of the bone.
I have had some small dings on bone.
Cracked ribs do okay alone. Others
should have got help.
