The rest you can watch yourself. Paul doesn't comment enough to make
it otherwise such a big thing that you can't turn off the volume other
than for knowing who it is. Tell me who is going up the road and who
the dumbass is hanging between the leaders and the pack and I'll watch
the screen for the rest. Paul and Phil have been talking homilies more
than insights to race tactics for a long time and the new duo is
better at updating what is going on outside of the race day, but also
not going to provide light from above on why someone decides to take a
shot off the front. So after they identify the poor chump sitting at
the side of the road staring at his missing spokes, what are you
actually getting?

Good camera work trumps the rest. Three Columbia High Road jerseys in
a row four bikes back in a aero shot is more information than I get
from the announcers most time. Most of us that don't speak French or
Italian know what the identifiers are for the various groups spread
out on the course. So the rest is chatter, whether good or ill. Maybe
U.S. races, where they don't always bother to let you know what group
you're looking at...
