Hehe. Yet in -our- University Lab we had (famous patient name deleted) as a
patient and did not divulge his lab results or name or location, (though
substantial $$ could probably have been made - hot story at the time).
Period.
We have what you'd call, uh personal 'professional ethics'. Not one
self-respecting laboratorian out of about 400 ever divulged any
confidential matters or believe me we'd have heard about it through either
official or unofficial channels! We didn't even discuss it among ourselves,
or mention if that patient's labs were in process, or if he went to the OR,
etc.
I do have to agree with those that say 'it's a scoop'. Yeah, it's news, and
in many respects the magazine did a good job sussing it out, but it
shouldn't have made it past the legal department, assuming L'equipe has
one. ;-p
