I did a 77 km loop on Sunday to the north. Having lots of fun with
my heart rate monitor. Anyone else use these? It calculates
calories burned. I have no idea how accurate it is but I am now
thinking of rides in terms of calories as well as time and
distance. does anyone else use these things?

The point of the ride, if one needs a point, was to discover the
exact western bits of the Elora Cataract trail. I ridden it all
the way to Cataract before but the trail disintegrates in place in
Elora and Fergus and I wanted to find each existing piece. As a
goal it was mission accomplished. Considering that Elora and
Fergus are touristy areas relying on visitors to buy in the trendy
shops and bistros and Oooh! and Ahhh! at the Elora Gorge it is a
wonder they don't make their end of the Elora Cataract trail a
centerpiece. Instead it is unimproved rail right of way and unused
scrub land in many places. A shame as at one point where it
crosses the river on the rebuilt trestle it allows for a wonderful
view.

About the winds: As summer has finally arrived in that it is not
constantly raining but is still rather humid the winds are now
welcome for their convection properties.

About the return leg: Wellington Rd. 29 and 4th&5th line are now my
favourite routes back down to home. Good surfaces and not too much
traffic. Just the right amount of hills but over all a downslope.

Congratulations, 1000 calories is equal to 5 original Krispy Kreme
glazed donuts! A great way to end a great ride. Enjoy...

I do a lot of fairly long rides without even eating breakfast but I
stay within 4 or 5 miles of the house in case of an oncoming bonk.
A "fairly long ride", but within 4 or 5 miles of the house... Hmmmm,
what do you do, ride laps around the neighborhood? LOL! By the way,
what exactly is an "oncoming bonk"?

I can go
about 2 hours before my reserves are used up and I do lose weight
that way but long trips are out. Sometimes I recover by the
afternoon and do it again, combining a fasting day with a calorie
burning day. I lost so much weight about 4 years ago my wife said I
looked like a POW and demanded I gain weight.
Yeah, that's a great way to lose weight, Bill. Real healthy. Yeah.

I felt great but managed to wear her jeans by mistake, and that just
set her off ballistic.
I keep thinking you can't say anything more stupid than you already
have, but you just keep surprising me.

Hey. Iron Bill Baka does "off-road centuries" wearing jeans in 6-7 hours!
*WITH* a morbidly obese pal in tow!!!

You just joined Dan C in the plonk file.

If you keep talking garbage what do you expect?
