Ok, with my job, I have to carry a laptop with me if I'm going to ride
back
and forth to work.

I have a well padded case that is about the size of my old pannier on the
old Suburban.

The thing is, it's going to make me heavy on one side if I carry it in
some
sort of pannier arrangement.

Any suggestions?

Is the large padded case necessary? I have a large Timbuk2 messenger bag
that easily holds my laptop, about 5000' of cables, and a spare power
supply or two. That at least centers the load, and it comes right off
the bike with you.

P.S. Are both work and home in Schaumburg? I'm considering doing some
occasional commuting to the office in SCH this summer, but from out in
Elgin (I'm normally a work-at-home guy), so I'm starting to scout for
routes.

The work is over in S. Barrington and I'm at the north end of Schaumburg.
Central would be most of the commute.
