We found that the same was true when we were shopping for a house and
wanted to walk through some of the models at developments without being
tailed by salespeople. When we arrived by tandem we were ignored
almost everywhere whereas when we came in our fairly old car (resale
value probably less than the tandem) they'd rush over the moment we
came through the door.
