There are "no wake" and "5 MPH" signs all over that part of the Harlem
River, especially since it was re-opened to hand-launch and human
powered small craft. That part of the river is actually a canal, the
"Harlem Ship Improvement Canal." Spuyten Duyvil Creek (more of a marsh,
actually) was dug through and replaced with this canal to connect the
East River - Harlem River system to the Hudson River - North River
system. None of these "rivers" are actually rivers. We have half of a
fjord, a "race" (underwater river) and an estuary system. In any event,
every part is subject to heavy control and enforcement.

The body was found Thursday morning.
