A common sight in cool-weather races is cyclists stuffing newspapers
under the front of their jerseys to create a wind barrier. A cool wind
on the torso can lower your core temperature faster than anything.

Cycling vests serve the same function. They're wind-proof on the front,
but have open mesh on the back so there's plenty of ventilation and no
heat buildup there.

If it gets warm, unzip it. If it's in the way, it rolls up small.

I find my vest to be one of the the most useful clothing accessories I
own for cycling.
