I've had a Brunton Solaris 26-watt folding panel for more than a year
now, I use it constantly, and I love it. Weight is one pound. All
will work, or none will work, depending on how well your Basic
Electricity class went; you'll need to shunt, divide, or otherwise
step-down the panel's input to match the batteries being recharged.
If E=IxR is Greek to you, I'd recommend one of the dedicated solar
battery chargers sold by Brunton or the C. Crane Company.
Just for starters, you do not need to "step-down the panel's
input". It gets significantly more complicated than that too,
so I won't confuse you with explaining more than you can handle.
Floyd, my boy, you really are an asinine moron. Get a life - and
maybe an education,
Your statement was technically ridiculous.
The best part was "step-down the panel's input to match the
batteries". The panel's input is energy from the sun, and it
does not in any way match the batteries being charged.
Many, many PV solar panel systems and devices use a regulator or
a charge controller. That goes between the panel and the
battery, so that the electricity being delivered is at
appropriate levels.
You can damage a battery with excessive juice flowing in from the
panel.
That is probably what the "step-down" comment meant.
On the solar panel's input... to match the batteries????
Len McDougall is repeating something he read somewhere and
doesn't understand well enough to keep _input_ vs. _output_ sorted
out. Of course he just had to claim he knows what Ohm's Law
means, even though he clearly demonstrated otherwise.
